Hepaticum Capsule contains Silymarin as an active ingredient. Hepaticum Capsule works by lowering the alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase levels; adjusting the cell transporters thus inhibiting the apoptosis in hepatocytes. Silyamarin (also known as milk thistle) stabilizes the hepatic cell membrane and prevents the penetration of toxin in to the cell and also slows the absorption of harmful substances in to the liver. Silymarin contains antioxidant flavanoid. It combines with free radicals formed from metabolic process and also from breakdown of toxic substances and neutralizes them. Because of its antioxidant action it has anti-inflammatory property and it is used in ulcerative colitis and in ulcers.
